In June 2015, the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute’s Fashion Positive Initiative, in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), launched the CFDA Fashion Positive Summer Fellowship program.
Fashion Positive has partnered with the CFDA to expand the vision and knowledge of Cradle to Cradle® design in the fashion industry to a student audience.
This year, the fellowship was awarded to Teslin Doud, a recent graduate of Parsons the New School for Design. After learning about Cradle to Cradle during her studies, Teslin used the design methodology as inspiration during the creation of her thesis, which focused on sustainability and textiles. Additionally, last year, Tess was selected as the Tory Burch Mentorship Award winner and part of this award supported her Senior Thesis at Parsons.
Teslin has been working with the Fashion Positive team to steward development of a public library of Cradle to Cradle Certified materials for designers, and identifying suppliers that have potential for innovation and inclusion of their material in the library.
Following her position with Fashion Positive, Teslin will be joining the team at Eileen Fisher as part of the CFDA Eileen Fisher Social Innovator Award.
The CFDA Summer Fellow program is made possible through support of the Schmidt Family Foundation and the DOEN Foundation.
